Residential Cooling

Ductless Mini-Split Installation

Finished attic that bakes all summer. A sunroom the furnace never reaches. A North Jersey colonial with radiators and no ducts at all. Mini-splits solve the rooms that central systems can’t touch — no ductwork, no major construction, heating and cooling in one quiet unit.

J&M installs Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, and Daikin systems — and we’re Mitsubishi City Multi certified, the credential behind their multi-zone technology. That matters because mini-split performance lives and dies on line-set work, placement, and commissioning done to manufacturer spec.

Where mini-splits shine

  • Homes with steam or hot-water heat and no ductwork
  • Additions, sunrooms, garages, and finished attics or basements
  • Replacing expensive electric baseboard heat
  • Second floors that never match the thermostat downstairs
  • Anyone who wants room-by-room temperature control — and the lower bills that come with it

What a J&M installation includes

  • Room-by-room load assessment and honest zone planning
  • Single-zone and multi-zone systems from Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, and Daikin
  • Cold-climate heat pump models that heat reliably through NJ winters
  • Clean line-set routing and mounting — inside and out
  • Full commissioning, plus a walkthrough of controls and modes

FAQ

Mini-Split Installation — common questions

Don’t see your question? Call 862-703-4222 — a real person answers, 24/7/365.

Do mini-splits work for heating in winter?

Yes — modern cold-climate models heat efficiently well below zero degrees, and many of our customers run them as primary heat for the rooms they serve. The key is specifying a true cold-climate unit, which is part of our design work, not an upsell.

How many indoor units do I need?

One per zone you want to control independently — which is not necessarily one per room. Open floor plans often share a unit; a multi-zone system can run several indoor heads off one outdoor unit. We design from how you actually live in the space, and we’ll tell you when fewer zones will do the job.

How long does installation take?

A single-zone system is typically installed in a day. Multi-zone systems usually run two, depending on line-set routing. Either way there’s no ductwork construction — it’s one of the least disruptive HVAC projects there is.

Are mini-splits noisy?

The opposite — indoor heads run at a whisper, quieter than most refrigerators, and the compressor lives outside. If your reference point is a window unit, the difference is night and day.
