Water Heater Replacement
Water heaters rarely fail politely — it’s a cold shower or a wet basement floor, usually on a weekend. J&M stocks and installs standard and high-efficiency tank water heaters, and in many cases we can have hot water back the same day you call.
- Licensed & insured
- 24/7/365 emergency
- Serving NJ since 2006
Replacement is also where corners get cut: missing expansion tanks, improper venting, no drain pan where one belongs. We install to current code because “the old one didn’t have that” isn’t a safety standard.
Signs your water heater is on borrowed time
- It’s 10+ years old — most tanks last 8–12
- Rusty or discolored hot water
- Rumbling or popping sounds (sediment buildup)
- Moisture or pooling around the base
- Running out of hot water faster than you used to
What a J&M replacement includes
- Right-sized standard or high-efficiency tank — gas or electric
- Code-compliant installation: venting, expansion tank, relief valve, drain pan where required
- Haul-away and disposal of the old unit
- Full system test and temperature setup before we leave
- Straight talk on whether a tankless upgrade makes sense for your home instead
FAQ
Water Heater Replacement — common questions
Don’t see your question? Call 862-703-4222 — a real person answers, 24/7/365.
How long does a water heater last?
Typically 8–12 years for a standard tank. Past the 10-year mark, replacement on your schedule is almost always cheaper and calmer than the emergency version with a flooded utility room.
Can you replace my water heater the same day?
Often, yes — common sizes are usually available immediately, and a standard swap takes a few hours. Call early in the day at 862-703-4222 and we’ll tell you honestly what’s possible.
What size water heater do I need?
It depends on household size and how you use hot water — a family of five with teenagers is a different problem than a couple. We size by demand, not by whatever was there before, so you stop running out mid-shower.
Tank or tankless?
Tanks cost less upfront and are simple; tankless units deliver endless hot water, last longer, and sip energy, but cost more to install. If your gas line and venting can support tankless, it’s worth pricing both — we’ll quote them side by side.
